Dalton, GA — Dalton Public Schools is proud to announce that Yessica Hernandez has been named the Blue Ridge School Classified Staff Member of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year. Hernandez has served as the Blue Ridge School Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper since 2017, bringing dedication, kindness, and a spirit of excellence to her role.
Hernandez is no stranger to recognition; she was previously honored as the Blue Ridge School Classified Staff Member of the Year for 2021-2022. With her Professional Interpreter in Education Certificate, she has been instrumental in bridging communication gaps and supporting the school’s diverse community. Beyond her work at Blue Ridge, Hernandez is deeply involved in the local community, coaching recreation volleyball and participating in the Mujeres Emprendedoras Avanzando Juntas/ Latin America Association for 2024.
Reflecting on her recent award, Hernandez shared her gratitude and commitment to service: "My goal for the 2023-2024 school year was to serve students, teachers, staff, and families with excellence. I was able to accomplish this goal, and at the end of the school year, I received the Classified Staff Member of the Year award. God is good in every way! His mercy and grace helped me to accomplish this goal."
Hernandez’s role at Blue Ridge School extends far beyond the typical duties of a bookkeeper or administrative assistant. She wears many hats—mother, wife, daughter, friend, colleague, nurse, counselor, and coach—always striving to serve with humility and kindness. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed by new staff members, who have expressed their gratitude for her support, guidance, and encouragement throughout the year.
"I believe God placed me at Blue Ridge School for a purpose. I have been able to serve our staff, students, parents, and community because that is my calling," Hernandez said. "I do my best to exhibit excellence in everything I do because this glorifies God."
Hernandez’s active involvement in school events, such as the fall and winter festivals, and her unwavering support for staff, students, and parents, underscore her commitment to the Blue Ridge community. Her dedication, both during and after school hours, ensures that the school operates smoothly and that everyone feels supported.
