Hayden Poe - 2024 Shuler Award Winner - Best Performance by a Leading Actor

Dalton Public Schools students and programs have once again demonstrated excellence on the stage, garnering prestigious awards and recognition at the 16th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards (GHSMTA) presented by ArtsBridge Foundation in partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting.

The “Shuler Awards 2024,” a live co-production with GPB, served as the platform for announcing the winners of the "Sweet 16" edition of the GHSMTA. A celebration of the finest high school musical theatre talents across the state, this year's event featured 75 participating schools culminating in a televised Awards Show at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, hosted by Tony Award-winning actor, Shuler Hensley.

Important Eclipse Information

Dalton Public Schools (DPS) would like to inform members of the DPS community of an exciting astronomical event that our school community will have the opportunity to experience together on Monday, April 8, 2024. A solar eclipse will pass over North America, a rare phenomenon providing a learning opportunity for our students.

Monday, April 8th is our first day back from spring break and will be a normal school day for our district.

C3 Odyssey of the Mind

Dalton Public Schools is proud to spotlight the exceptional accomplishments of 12 fifth-grade students who showcased their ingenuity and creativity as part of the C3 Odyssey of the Mind Team. These talented students recently participated in the North Georgia Regionals Competition for Odyssey of the Mind in Flowery Branch, GA, leaving an indelible mark with their inspiring achievements.

Laurie King currently serves as the Physical Education (P.E.) teacher and Teacher of the Year at Westwood School. Her inspiration to teach stems from a simple yet powerful source – the kids. Mrs. King cherishes the enthusiasm with which students approach P.E. each day, eager to learn new skills and explore new activities.
